Dyan Chand Is Denied While Bharat Ratna Is Randomly Given During Election 2019

Dyan Chand the “Pitama” of Indian Hockey is once again denied the Bharat Ratna the highest civilian award of India. It was a sad day when people across the nation experienced the 26th January parade while the highest award was given to randomly selected people, former President of India Parnab Mukherjee, Bhupen Hazarika singer from Assam and Nanaji Deshmukh a social activist. The problem starts when the announcement was made during the General Election beginning from April and the above mentioned three candidates were selected for the civilian award. This is just another publicity stunt from the Modi government who is thinking of winning another term of office in a row. There was no need for the award but if it was so, then why deny Dyan Chand who rejected an offer made by Adolf Hitler from becoming a citizen of Germany. Under his belt India crushed Germany in its hometown by 8 to 1 and 3 goals were single handily scored by the legend Dyan Chand.

Adolf Hitler was frustrated by the performance of Germany team and in the midway he left the play. Later, the dictator of Germany returned to offer Dyan Chand a high post in the German army. But the patriotic hockey legend politely refused the post and returned. Today, after 83 years of this historic event we Indians ignored the sacrifice and patriotism of the legendary hockey player and are looking forward to give away Bharat Ratna award to anyone. How can someone randomly select people for the highest civilian award when they are many deserving people who shed their sweat and hard labor for the country. Well, at the end the award given on such auspicious day is yet another publicity stunt done by Modi. I hope people will open up with a broader mind and take the initiative to the turn the pages of history and look for real heroes who died for India.

FR. PREMANANDA SINGHA AND THE NEW MISSIONARY ERA

Before describing the new missionary era ushered in by Fr. Premananda Singha, here are a few words describing about the Anglo-Indian community who were the chief preoccupations of the Kharagpur Parish Priests and their Assistants. The Englishmen held the highest posts who were mostly Protestants, who behaved like gentlemen, somewhat distant and patronizing. Meanwhile, the Anglo-Indians who held the minor managerial posts such as Foremen, Express and Passenger Drivers were in majority. Catholics on the other hand were engaged in social get together inviting the clergy to their homes for birthday parties and house blessings. They were good church goers, generous in supporting their priests and of their loyalty there was no doubt.

Independence altered many things. Railway passes were abolished, and if Anglo-Indians became Mail Drivers and were still getting a priority on recruitment to apprenticeships, the European scale to pay-double of the ‘Indian’ was also abolished. Most Anglo-Indians who could afford it emigrated to U.K., Canada and Australia. Whereas the younger men stayed back and turned their backs on the Railways. The community had no strange behavior towards the church as long as they stuck to antiquated ‘privileges’ seats in the main nave, “English Mass” at the most convenient timings. In 1953, the parish Priest, Fr. Richir wrote for his personal notes that the Anglo-Indian community, after the departure of the British, held the highest positions in the Station, the Chief Mechanical Engineer, the Divisional Superintendent which triggered the presence of large families and their numbers of Anglo-Indians and Catholics and made up for those who have emigrated. Unfortunately for Fr. Richir these consoling features were temporary and the inevitable decline in prestige and numbers was not slow in showing the real state of affairs.

On the other hand the growth of the Santal Apostolate ushered in by Fr. A. Ernst SJ and especially Fr. Premananda Singha who became the central figure in the moment of conversions that spread from the zealous community that Olda had become. Soon there was a mass movement that shook the Southern Midnapore district in the mid seventies under Fr. Prem and his companions, Cyprian Monis, Owen D’Souza, Robert Richard D’Souza, Anthony Lobo and others with new stations at Kamarchowki, Kearchand, Baligheria and then Chamrusai with Frs. De Cocq and Ernst. Under the guardianship of Joachim Osta and Fr. Francis Gomes, Midnapore rose in importance. The affect of this rise was the birth of two Bengali-Medium High Schools, the friendly relationship with the district authorities, in such a way that the seat of deanery was transferred to Midnapore since 1975.

1947 A STRUGGLE FOR INDIA’S INDEPENDENCE

During the struggle for independence, church collections had been lavish, and Fr. Percy Sharpe a Parish Priest then had gathered enough funds to construct a comfortable bungalow that became the present presbytery of Kharagpur. In 1947 Fr. Sharpe was transferred to Dhanbad where he took over Fr. Dohet who was found dead of a heat stroke in his room, while Fr. J.B. Moyersoen replaced Fr. Percy Sharpe as the next Parish Priest of Kharagpur.

Fr. Moyersoen who was a former superior of the Calcutta Mission and visitor of India was a man with a vision. His soul was in Bengal where he brought in the Daughters of St. Ann to Midnapore where they stayed for over a month, instructing the people. Detail interest was taken in the village communities of Midnapore, Jhargram, Bhangamora, Balichak and the Indian Christians about 700 of them residing in Japatapur, Chota Tengra, Hijli and other localities south of the station. With all these efforts Fr. Moyersoen was made Tertian Master in Sitagarha and back came Fr. Theo Richir.

Fr. Richir with all his sincere dedication towards his parish brought back the golden era of the church. Sacred Heart Parish swelled with people coming from all around, which included people from Jhargram, Jualbhanga, Bhangamora, Midnapore and Balichak. The Church was also visited by Bishop Oscar Severin who came from Ranchi and was making his way to Andaman. Reaching early morning by Ranchi Express, Bishop Oscar Severin used to spend his morning in the parish and by late night he used to board the Madras Mail. Fr. Richir was a visionary who wanted to correct the flaws done by “pre-Lievens” missionaries who were on wrong tracks. In the 1860s and 70s the Capuchins of Northern India were the leading missionaries according to the priest. Their idea of bringing the Gospel to the adamant Hindus was to run orphanages and settle the orphans on large estates of Chuhari, Rampur, Latona in North Bihar and other similar zamindaris in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab etc.

The Capuchins imported “Daughters of the Cross” from Belgium and opened two orphanages, at Balasore and Chanibasa. Orphans were settled on two zamindaris, Krishna Chandrapur in Orissa and Jualbhanga cloe to Jhargram. The next year Fr. Richir was transferred to Asansol while Fr. Albert Ernst became the first Kharagpur Jesuit to leave the comforts of the Railway Chaplain’s life and settled in Midnapore. Here Fr. Ernst accepted to run for a group of local leaders a ‘not-doing-too well’ school. He made friends with the civil authorities and called in the “Daughters of St. Ann” to help him running a Bengali-medium Junior High School which eventually developed into the two present Bengali-medium Catholic High Schools of Midnapore.

RENNAISANCE OF THE MISSIONARY IN THE MID THIRTIES AND FORTIES

The year was 1933, when the Christians of this small village Kharagpur were waiting for Fr. Charles Vrithoff for an immediate interest in their problems. Shortly after his appointment as Assistant Parish Priest., he wrote in the Mission periodical ‘Our Field’;

On Christmas 1933, I baptized three Santal children who were brought to me from Olda, a village some 24 miles south of Kharagpur. Last Christmas only men came from Olda excusing themselves for the absence of women as they had no bullock carts. After a long chat they disclosed how many years ago they had migrated from Jualbhanga to Olda. Alas! One day the whole Catholic community had made up their minds to cross over to the Baptists. But our friends, the two brothers Peter and Michael objected, ‘Let them become Baptists, we will not. We belong to the church of the beginning (the Adi mondoli, an expression so often heard in the 24 Parganas)

However Fr. Charles Vrithoff was a Railway Chaplain. Nowadays the church collections were handsome and Railway Chaplains hardly ever walked: they moved in their own car and travelled 1st class on the Railway. He goes on, Having heard that their padre was visiting them by car, I did the same. The road was bad, we got stuck. We walked and reached Olda to the great joy of our Catholics. After staying one hour we returned to Kharagpur”.

This was the golden era of Kharagpur in those days when the railway chaplains were enjoying from their ministry. On the other hand one man however realized that more time should be given to Olda. Fr. Alfred D’Hondt was appointed as assistant in 1938 and was put in charge of St. Anthony’s while he paid regular visits to Olda where he would spend the night and next morning.

The interest and regular visit of Alfred D’Hondt paid the effort and one family after another returned to the ‘Adi Mandali’ and by 1945 Olda became a fully Catholic Village. But in 1952, he was transferred to Sacred Heart Church, Dharamtolla Calcutta and Fr. Bonaventure D’Souza became the first Parish Priest of St. Anthony’s.

FROM RURAL MISSION FIELD TO RAILWAY CHAPLAINCY

The genesis of Sacred Heart Church, Kharagpur dates back to 1901, when Fr. Hipp, a professor of St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta, was appointed to take in charge of the growing Railway centre of Kharagpur, a junction of the two main lines running between Calcutta and Madras and Calcutta and Bombay. On 21ST December of the same year Fr. Hipp build a presbytery which was made on mortar and brick that consisted of a large room which served as a chapel to a swelling congregation. A small leap resulted in a rapid growth of parishioners that counted Europeans, Anglo-Indian, Tamilians and Telegus, this resulted the transfer of Bengal Nagpur Railway workshops from Nagpur, and the year was 1903. On 15th December 1904, Fr. Louis Haghenbeek, the newly Parish Priest requested Fr. Van Severen who at that time resided at Jualbhanga took care of the growing village communities of Jhargram, Bhangamora and Midnapore to join him as an assistant.

This well-nigh desertion of a village mission field saw Fr. Leopold Knockaert taking the initiative in a mass movement comprising of Santal, Mahilis, Haris and other half of Hindu Adivasis which reached the 2000 mark. This resulted in the negligence of the Bengali communities of the 24 Parganas while a large number of Christians in Chotanagpur benefited by absorbing the major part of the resources of the Bengal mission, in men and money.

In 1893, the deteriorating health prevented Fr. Knockaert to continue his mission of Jhargram and left to Purnea where he gradually recovered. Here he started another mission among Santals in North Bengal which concentrated around Majlispur and became the basis from which Fr. De Bono; a Maltese Jesuit started the presently flourishing Santal Mission. But it was not long when the successors of Fr. Knockaert, Frs. Lhermite and Van Severen, for some reasons had to discontinue the movement which he initiated. On 1897 in Jualbhanga due to prolong sickness Fr. Leopold Knockaert breathed his last, it was like the beginning faced its last.

Back in this small village Kharagpur, Fr.Van Severen along with Fr. Haghenbeek pioneered in the Ranchi mission field under Fr. Lievens at the time of the great “conquests”. The trio worked for several years before leaving to Midnapore. Fr. Haghenbeek was well versed in administrative abilities which he made a good use of it when he was made Rector of Manresa House, Ranchi and from here he carried his ability to Kharagpur where he spent rest of his life. In this small sleepy village of Kharagpur Fr. Haghenbeek focused his interest on the Anglo-Indian community and building of the present Church. For the construction of the worship place B.N.R arranged an architect-engineer and the work made its way on 29th April 1916, and by 24th March 1918, Mgr. Brice Meuleman, Archbishop of Calcutta, blessed the new church, dedicated to the Sacred Heart. This effort however told on the health of Fr. Haghenbeek and by the end of 1919 he had to leave his beloved Kharagpur for Calcutta where he died on 21st November 1920.

By now this small sleepy village known as Kharagpur made itself the center of attraction and was divided into two corners. To the South, the higher ranking, Managers and other functionaries of Officer’s rank, lived in the planned garden city, its six avenues and ten streets. The chief Mechanical Engineer held the highest post, while the other higher ranks were Englishmen, among them the Mail Drivers till the independence had to be Englishmen. Others were Anglo-Indians, who were Catholics in number.

The other half was living in the North side of the town that consisted workers, firemen and jacks on the line, employees of the Workshops, divided in 9 Types according to rank. Anglo-Indians and Goans were met with in Types 7, 8 and 9 while the rest were Indians mainly Tamilians and Telegus. This division saw a gradual rise of the Catholics and by the 20s they crossed the thousand mark barricade. Kharagpur was no more a village, by now it became a known destination, the Parish Priest and his assistants were enjoying privileges under the B.N.R administration such as a 1st Class Railway pass from Calcutta to Khurda Rd and Chakradharpur, with a 3rd Class Pass for the catechist and a permit for a cycle. The typical “Railway Chaplain” mentality grown on them memorizing the train timings and used to call the Mails, Express and passenger trains by their numbers, ‘one up’, ‘two down’, ‘three up’, ‘four down’. The arrival of the Mail was commented upon at the breakfast table, especially the Puri Express (driven by an Anglo-Indian. Catholic) who made himself known by the way he blew his whistle.

Not all Parish Priest had the same approach one such was Fr. Camille Limbourg, the founder of St. Anthony’s Calcutta who was an outstanding exception. He was the professor of History at St. Xavier’s; an aging man who was made the Parish Priest of Kharagpur in the mid twenties. He entrusted the European and Anglo-Indians congregation of the 6 Avenues and 10 streets to his assistant and made himself available among the Madrassis of the Types. He acquired from the Railway a plot of land where he constructed a large church, dedicated to St. Antony.

Fr. Limbourg who was slowing down by age made a unique mechanism, a tricycle which he used it to travel a distant of 2 miles every morning. But with his age growing, his health slowed him and he found the tricycle as a mountain to push with his aging legs. He then made a quick adjustment by arranging a bullock cart pulled by two bullocks has his mode of transportation.

It was not a strange experience on the bullock cart as it was people’s first choice of transportation in those days. Fr. Limbourg used to enjoy his transport by lying on it with the requisite topee covering his head while his long beard danced with the tune of the breeze. His boots were long enough almost touching the bullock’s tails. The animals were not always obedient, but soon became part of ‘Limbo’s ‘legend. One morning the bullocks stopped stubbornly in the middle of the line and the whistle of the Puri Express was announcing its arrival. The animals were beaten profusely to move out of the tracks but the bullocks were too adamant to move an inch this resulted for the Pune Expres to stop.

A predecessor of Fr. Limbourg, Fr. George Verloove, in the early twenties had re-discovered the Christians of Jhargram, Bhangamora, Midnapore and Balichak which survived unmitigated negligence at the hands of the railway chaplains, much of it due to the care of an outstanding Catechist, Gregory Gour, who died in 1930. Unfortunately for the Christians, Fr. Verloove shifted to Jamshedpur where he built St. Mary’s Church, in the north road which is a replica of the Sacred Heart Church of Kharagpur.

EARLY YEARS OF SACRED HEART KHARAGPUR

A project of 1887 was undertaken by the enterprising Bengal Nagpur Railway (BNR) for transcontinental connection by laying the Nagpur Asansol line. The work ended on 1891 taking Chakradharpur a remote village to become a high ranking railway station, giving its first Chaplin, a Parish Priest from a nearby Bongaon name Fr. Mullender.

This was just a small taste of its success while major obstacles were on its way, one such was BNR, and it depended on East India Railway (EIR) which was its rival to reach Calcutta. BNR needed a personal gateway into Calcutta, to do so a new line was planned which had its beginning from Sini, passing south of Midnapore to reach Howrah. By now the BNR started to grow expanding its operations towards Orissa, finally joining with the state line that was built from Madras towards the North, along the coast. With this a small unknown village Kharagpur seeming a healthy place for residence comes into picture making it a runway towards the south.

This newly discovered village became center of attraction; in 1897 the Archbishop Mgr. Goethals made Kharagpur his closest mission station. On the other hand the village got its first Parish Priest Fr. Van Severen who visited 15 families of European and Anglo-Indians residing in Kharagpur. From 1901 Fr. Hipp who was teaching in St. Xavier’s became the Sunday Parish Priest of Kharagpur. SACRED HEART KHARAGPUR

Five Great All Time Cats

With going down of ages and debate raising the existence of some of the toughest cats surviving in the wild, many observers and scientist observed their hunting strategies and the survival techniques of these cats. Although, these cats live separately in the wild but they are the largest predators hunting down even the biggest bull for their meals. The cats vary from different shapes and sizes while they have the same body structure and rely on same defensive mechanisms the teeth and the claws.

Keeping this in mind we now categorized these big cats according to their surviving tactics

5. Cheetah: The fastest feline on the planet can run at a speed of 114 km an hour, the speed reaches from 0 to 4 seconds even the fastest jet lacks this pace. But with great speed come great weakness and it is here when the cheetah succumbs to its own speed. A cheetah’s body is designed to get the maximum speed in a chase as the feline can keep its pace till a distance of 400 meters after which it slows down. As the cat reaches its maximum speed the flow of blood gushes to its brain this slows down the feline and if the cat ignores its weakness, then the blood would tear the veins causing an instant death for the fast runner. The sprinter cat can only keep up to the speed for just 10 minutes, while the body temperature rises according to the acceleration or the pace of cheetah. The streamlined physique helps the cat to chase and take down smaller preys such as the antelope and Thomson gazelles while its defense mechanisms are totally useless during a scuffle with other mammals. The cheetah is designed to chase and sprint faster than any mammal on the earth but it lacks the offensive tools when it comes saving its territory and its family.

4. Leopard: A smart and a solitary ambush hunter is the most aggressive feline in the entire cat family. It is been said that leopards would take down lions when it comes to defend its territory. They are stronger in all forequarters and can lift its prey weighing thrice its body weight. Although, leopards are seen hunting down deers, wild hogs and other small animals but they will never back down in taking larger bovines in their meals. Leopards are normally shy creatures and often prevent publicity but this sly hunter would be a step behind you and will still leave you unnoticed about its presence. Sometimes it is seen in Northern America that the sly cat often gets into the human vicinity and targets children and even adults. The cat is also seen killing dogs, cats and even goats for its supper. Due to the growing population, humans have occupied the cat’s territory which leads in a normal confrontation between both the creatures.

3. Lion: The king of beast is often regarded as symbol of the greatest warrior ever built to die till death. Lion as not only ruled the jungle but became a great admirable creature for the Romans. This is why images and statues of these great warriors were printed on the clothes and crowns of the Roman emperor and his brave soldiers. Lions reign the entire Serengeti and Masai Mara regions and mainly rely on larger preys such the cave buffalos, wildebeest and even sometimes elephants and hippos. Lions often rule a larger group that generally consists of four to five lionesses. They hunt in a pack thus taking down a larger animal such as an amateur elephant and even a full grown bison. The hunt is normally done by the female lions while the males join them during the feast. Lions are often social animals thus they love to join a family or make one of them. The felines are often rated as the most aggressive cats among its closer cousins and are normal seen taking down larger preys.

2. Tiger: The most efficient and a stealth hunter in the entire cat family, known to take down even the biggest gaur with a single strike. It has been often argued that what would be the consequences if a lion and tiger confront each other in the wild. Well, there is no doubt that lions are aggressive felines and would fight until death but this can be noticed between two different lions. But during a confrontation with a tiger a lion would fight either to defend its territory or its family. The fight between the big cats is registered in many great diaries but it is always the lion kisses death and tiger returns as a victorious soldier.

There are other short footage that often show tiger retreats but you will never witness that the lion managed to kill its counterpart. Tigers are stronger than their cousins and weigh more than them; they are the perfect fighting machine and always tend to use their forelimbs in a scuffle like a western boxer whereas lions can only manage with one. It is also seen that tigers fight while they are on their hind legs standing erect and using their might whereas lions share their balance on three limbs while they utilize one in a bout. Tigers unlike their cousins are not social animals and avoid staying together, this leaves a tiger totally unsecured either defending its territory or family. But in spite of this drawback the feline manages to survive in the wild, while the tigress raises its cubs without a male. If you are still not convinced with the verdict then you must heard of a tigress taking down a gaur single handedly.

If you look back in wild a pack of lioness consisting of four to five of them manage to bring down the largest cave buffalo that weighs similar to the gaurs. If this is not enough for your knowledge then one must understand that Siberian Tigers can easily hunt grizzlies for their meals. A grizzly weighs nearly a ton which is much more than a full grown tiger, it also as a full-fledged stamina. The potentiality of the bear can be easily seen during a chase between the reindeers. The bear is not the fastest animal on earth but can chase down its prey for more than a mile. So, it is totally impossible to take down this heavily equipped mechanism except for the pachyderms. Tiger is one such predator that is equally packed with stamina and fighting tools that as the potentiality to take down the largest grizzly in the Siberian jungle.

1. Domestic Cat: Yes, you must be amazed that why a small creature which is hundred times smaller than its cousin holds the peak and accelerates to become one of the top predators of the planet. The reason lies here, a domestic cat takes down more than 1000 species for its meals which includes small insects to the most poisonous lizards. Just think and use your intellect if an animal so small and easily preys on so many species then imagine what would it be if our domestic cat would be the size of a full grown feline weighing not lee that 400lbs. So, when it comes in ranking the most fearsome feline of the entire cat family then the domestic cat ranks the first place.

Brian Lara vs Sachin Tendulkar

During the late 80s two great batsmen rose from dust, one was a right hander and the other was a left hander. Though they were spirited batsmen but they differed each other with their unique style and batting manoeuvre.

Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar became the greatest batsmen of all time building up platform for the youngsters. But people around the globe and even Shane Warnee treated Sachin Tendulkar as the ace batsman over Lara.

Both these batsmen were able to hit different stokes and played against the most lethal bowlers. But they played well in different forms of games, Lara was well equipped with his skills to play in Tests and Sachin was a challenge by his self to play the ODIs.

Now, we should understand that every player is not suited to play the different formats. So, how can we make such differences and rate the players according to their records?

Can we place Sachin and Lara over Sir Don Bradman or on top of Sir Viv Richards or Sir Garfield Sobers just because their pockets are filled with records more than anyone else? If this is impossible then how can we make differences between Sachin and Lara?

Shane Warnee was absolutely wrong when he rated the greatest players of all time. If Warne thought he was hammered mercilessly by Sachin, and dreamt nightmares of that particular match, then what about Lara? Did Lara spare Warne during the incursion?

Sachin is an excellent cricketer but only in ODIs whereas Lara played the Tests with patience. Lara had the potentiality to play longer innings and stayed on the crease for a longer period. It is because of this he was able to break the 365 runs barrier which stood for more than 30 years.

We should also understand that the record was broken during the early 90s when Brian Lara was trying to make a place in the West Indies squad. A fresh batsman came from nowhere and broke the Test record of Sir Garfield Sobers was really magnificent. In that same year he was able to hit 501 not out while playing domestic cricket for the English County side.

This feat can only be managed by an experienced batsman like Sir Garfield Sobers who was well set in cricket for years. Lara also went to achieve the second place after Sir Don Bradman to create 9 double Test centuries. He was also capable of making most number of 150 plus, 19 of those just one head of Sir Don Bradman.

Moreover, if Herschelle Gibbs was able to hit the most number of runs in an over in the World Cup match, then Lara went on to become the first cricketer with more runs in an over. Lara was able to hit 28 runs against R. Peterson while playing against South Africa; the record is still to be broken in Test.

Lara also became the highest run getter in Test which was later taken over by Sachin, who also made the most number of centuries in Test. On the other side of the field, Sachin made history by becoming the only batsman to get more centuries and 50s in ODIs.

During the clash of the Titans, Lara and Sachin were at their peak but in different formats of the game. Lara wasn’t a magnificent cricketer in the ODIs and was able to make only 19 centuries, while Sachin couldn’t even manage to get past of Lara’s records in Test. It was after the retirement of Lara, Sachin was able to break the records of most number of runs and centuries in Test cricket.

It was until years of experience and improvement of techniques, Sachin became the first man on the planet to hit a double century in the ODI against South Africa.

It is because of these reasons that both the players are different and created remarkable feats in the world of cricket. Lara was well set in Test while Sachin’s explosive shots were devastating in ODIs.

Boxer vs Martial Artist

There are many hand movements which can be termed as a punch, but are they a real punch? Well, a slap can be also be categorised as a punch since it is thrown from our body part. Any reflexes thrown by the hands can be regarded as a punch.

People are always confused to train themselves in regards to throw a devastating punch, so they try out new things to increase their striking powers by their hands. Different people opt different ways to increase and unleash their punching calibre. Many punching styles were well choreographed and shown in number of Chinese movies.

But, the only punching style with its unique ability and stands to its peak is the way how a boxer boxes. Many martial artists have adopted western boxing to increase their hand techniques and to improve their footwork. But does boxing is the real bread and butter when it comes for hand techniques?

Many experts rely on western boxing due to many reasons, and one such reason is, it subsides the unnecessary move when thrown during the delivery. Whereas, a martial artist would throw the punch from his waist which makes the punch to cover more distance, thus leaving it telegraphed and makes it slow.

Moreover, a boxer’s punch is straight without any fancy moves, the “straight lead” is thrown without even bringing the punch back. Whereas in karate, the “straight lead” is pulled back to the waist to unleash enough power from where it’s transferred, thus making it slow and fully exposed for the target to block it.

A perfect punch should be able to hit its target in a shorter span without getting it blocked. It is because of this a boxer with ease profits with his punches making good use of his footwork. A punch should not only be delivered by the twist in hip but also should be able to cover enough room by proper footwork.

A punch when thrown by a martial artist has enough power because the hand is thrown from the waist and he makes good use of his waist. But the major drawback of a martial artist punch is that he is ill-literate while making good use off his foot.

If a martial art punch is filled with power then a boxing punch is wrapped with speed and non-telegraphic attributes. Sometimes many fighters regard a “swing” as a perfect punch, but it is denoted as a punch “without action”.

In a “swing” the punch is thrown in a circular path and makes no use of waist and feet. Moreover, the “swing” is telegraphed thus making it easy to be blocked while in action, but what about a “hook”?

A “hook” shares a similar action with a “swing” but it is far more devastating than the latter. A “hook” is thrown by making good use of the footwork which means the puncher is not stiff during the delivery.

It was because of the flaws of martial arts punch, Bruce Lee was forced to adapt western boxing so that he could develop his hand techniques and improve his foot skills. Today, many martial artists bend to western boxing to increase their hand techniques and a good foot manoeuvre.

It has been said that everything in this universe as its pros and cons. If you think a boxer’s punching style is perfect, then think again? A boxer might have the right techniques with his footwork and a good manoeuvre with his hand skill but he holds a major set-back. The biggest flaw with a boxer is he is simply left alone when it comes in making a good use of his waist.

Thus, a boxer nevertheless is quick, with greasy fast moves, but he lacks power while delivering his punch. Similarly, a martial artist is able to generate enough power by making good use of his waist, but he is stagnated when it comes in quick moves and great footwork.

It is therefore we should make use of these a boxer’s and a martial artist punch, to get enough power, speed, accuracy and good foot skills, this is known as “Jeet Kune Do, The Way of the Intercepting Fist”

Remember, a “hook” can become a “straight lead” but a “straight lead” should not circulate like a “hook” or a “swing”.

Martial Arts

People for years tried out various styles to increase their strength, accuracy, speed and power. It is for this reason they tried out for something new, and because of this, different martial artist profited by bringing out their new moves and magnificent styles in order to get good amount of trafficking.
After the demise of the legendry martial artist Bruce Lee people started to think of different martial arts and their techniques which really made impressive acts in people’s mind. At the genesis most of the people opted for Karate and many names originated in this field, one such name was Chuck Norris.

A professional and won many martial arts tournament until became a famous superstar after the release of “The Way of the Dragon”. It was by the 60s when Bruce bought with him a unique style known as Kung Fu which made it popular in United States.
By now people started to acknowledge various styles and started to switch on according to their convenience. But we are absolutely wrong and it’s our myth that, this form of martial arts is better than that.

Martial Arts is just like the oak tree standing tall and erect, whereas the various branches are the different forms of martial arts, modified and re-refined by different martial artist. Now, these branches are further sub-divided into twigs given different names of the group.
Karate is a form of martial art but it is not a martial art, it is sub-divided such as Shoto-Ryu, Buro-Ryu, Shotokan, Burokan, Juju-Ryu, Jujukan. Similarly, Kung Fu was divided as Wing Chun, Wu-Shu not only this two martial arts where mixed to get a new form such as Kick-Boxing.

A combination of western boxing and karate were mingled to give new face which was termed as Kick-Boxing. This form of martial arts is widely popularised in United States, and even schools are promoting the sport at a wider range. Just like, Kick-boxing, Savate and Krav Maga are more popular in Soviet Union and Israel.

But there are certain alien sports that were invited by martial arts. The sport that is preferred by every martial artist is the “Western Boxing”. Bruce Lee who was a Wing Chun artist highly acknowledged the sport and gave it great preference to it. He was highly impressed by the footwork, the way a boxer trained and moreover the punching style. It was short, had speed and reduced unnecessary distance compared to any other punching style.

On the side, ju-jitsu and the Indian wrestling shared similar techniques when compared to each other. But as the world is changing the sports and their methods are modified and changed by different martial artist.

One such modification is done and is termed as “Mixed Martial Arts” or MMA. It is where; different forms of martial arts are bought in the same arena and are made to fight with each other. With the clash of different styles we are made to guess that which form of martial arts stands alone.
But at the end of the day we shouldn’t forget that there is only martial art and different forms are generated by different martial artist. So, if you can make your style you can place it, but do not call it “Martial Arts”.

Bruce Lee The Invincible Target

Bruce was crazy and a manic to learn and know more about martial arts. He was a one step ahead from his rivalries of his time and used to dedicate his self more in improvements and tactics. It’s been said that during Bruce’s learning periods he used to spread false bulletin about the absent of his master to his class mates, so that he could enjoy full privacy while learning the art.

Bruce was adamant and was a sturdy person during his juvenile stage. He used to bully his friends and usually took up a scuffle on the road side. At the age of 13 he was introduced to Yip Man a notable Wing Chun martial artist. During the 40s Hong Kong was mostly noted as an illicit place where black market and thugs thrived the nation. It was because of this Bruce wanted to learn Kung Fu so that he could get out of the problems that he used to confront them on daily bases.

Bruce was excellent and picked up every lesson off his master with ease; he threw his self to learn new techniques, and expanded his knowledge during different situations. By the age of 18 Bruce transferred his knowledge to the extreme limits. By now he started to manufacture his own way of fighting, but as the improvements worked for him so did he gained confidents and will-fully had street brawls.

The changes in Bruce, made his father to worry a lot for his son. So, it was a fine day when Bruce’s father encouraged him to sail to Seattle where he could pursue his higher education and could lead a normal life.

But as habits and nature die hard, though Bruce migrated to United States he was still the same. By now he was working in a family restaurant and on the other side he was enthusiastic to show his feats and spread his knowledge to the world. Bruce used to attend martial arts tournaments and gave his life’s best demo by showing the world the strength of his 1 inch punch.

The demonstration was performed in Long Beach International Karate Championships in 1964; Bruce also performed the two finger push up which was an amazing art for the Americans to witness. America flooded in the sport of baseball and boxing where images of great boxers such as Jack Johnson, Jack Dumsey, Joe Lewis, Rocky Marciano and Casius Clay, reigned the American’s hearts. But no-one ever imagined that an Asian man will soon become the notable among the best.

By now the Americans started to whisper about the incredible strength and the new art form, that Bruce had bought it from Asia. Some were enthusiastic to know about it while others wanted to learn about the sport. People from all over the place started to swell at Bruce’s courtyard and he was ready to build his class and status.

With the raising name and recognition on the ground of Uncle Sam, Bruce was already a well recognised celeb in the field of martial arts. But it is said “with the rise of the ladder, there is always someone to chop the wood”. Bruce started to get death threats and he was challenged by his own client, to stop teaching martial arts to the outside world.

But as he was thin steel that is hard to break, Bruce was determined and adamant to teach the sport. The group challenged Bruce for a fight with their finest fighter and kept a clause, if Bruce was able to defeat this guy then he would be let free. But if he fails then he needs to stop teaching to the outside world and should leave to his hometown.

Bruce was up and he accepted the challenge, he along with his student entered the auditorium where the fight was supposed to be held. The fight began with a bow and lasted for 10 minutes, the fighter showed no match in front of Bruce’s whiplash. At last Bruce knocked him down and pulling his clinched fist at the fighter’s face he cried loud “do you give up”, the opponent with bleeding face told “Matte" in Chinese means "uncle".

But this was not the end for Bruce, he was succumbed to the trauma, though he won the fight but he didn’t enjoy it. This was from here where he needed a change; Bruce thought that he was not ready for any fight and he needed to develop his skills. It was from here when Bruce started to take up for western boxing, he liked the hand techniques a lot.

Bruce started to refer some of the old footage of the great boxers, he started to learn western boxing, and improved his footwork. He moved as a boxer and punched like a whip, it was not over he introduced many exercise that developed his methods and improved his techniques.

Bruce slowly started to develop his skills and introduced his unique style of fight, which he termed it as “Jeet Kune Do, The Way of the Intercepting Fist”. When Bruce started to sprout out with this technique, people considered it much of the boxing tricks with addition of leg techniques. But this art was much more than western boxing.

It is said that Bruce was able to defeat his opponent in just 10 seconds with his unique technique that he introduced and named it as “Jeet Kune do”.

Face off of the Two Big Cats

Although, lions and tigers are the strongest, powerful and the most courageous big cats, built to take down the biggest prey with one sweep or bite force, but they are different in many ways.

Lions and tigers have the same bone and body structure and are built with muscles which allow them to hold their prey strongly without even loosing them. But this is not the reason that both the big cats differ from each other. It’s rarest of rear case when these cats confront each other in wild; this is because the lions rule most of the Africans jungle whereas the tigers are limited to Russia and India.

Very few dossiers show that the big cats truly fought when it came to defend their territory and their family. Scientific research show that the lions and tigers fought during the Roman era, and most of the cases the tigers won the war and lions breathe to dead.

Tigers are stronger and smarter than the lions and the reason behind this is they hunt alone which means they have to rely on their instincts. This helped them to develop their mind and allowed them to improve their smartness at peak.

Whereas the lions hunt in groups, so they are depended on each other allowing them to slow down both mentally and physically. Many time it as been seen that the tigers often leave the war zone without much to fight, that doesn’t mean that the tigers are frightened to fight but they avoid fight in fear of being injured, which will slow them down during a hunt.

Tigers are often weighed around 500lbs whereas lions are weigh not more than 150 kg. It as been said that a tiger that was found in the wild weighed nearly 300kg, but in a fight weight is not only the factor for a tiger’s win, but there are other reasons which helps the tigers to win against the lions.

The tigers fight on their forequarters using their two legs as a tool, they fight like a western boxer with great moves and tactics using better of their foot moves. The lions fight using one of their legs giving them greater disadvantage in a battle. This is where the lions loose to death when a fight is played against their opponent.

Moreover an episode known as the “Animal Face Off” featured in the Discovery Channel showed that the lion survived and won the fight against the tiger due to its mane. But in wild this is not the case, when there is a fight between the big cats, they would rather go for the head or back and not for the throat.

And this is where the weight plays an important role; the tigers are much heavier than the lions which allow them to climb on their opponent easily sending a tremendous bite force to their assailant. Tigers normally are calm creatures and would avoid a scuffle but on the other hand lions are aggressive in nature and will never back down without a fight.

This is why people opt for a lion rather than a tiger, because they have an instinct to fight till death. The Romans loved the mane owner because they were aggressive and never showed signs of timid ness.

But at the end of day the true warrior with great tactics wins the fight and the tiger owns the war zone with supremacy and the knack to fight, when it comes to challenging its antagonist.

Futuristic Phone

“Black Dracula” can still be activated without using “yes” SIM card, which is why it is known as Satellite Guided Mobile Phone. The Black Dracula operates in a casual way which has normal features such as video conferencing, video and audio player, messages that can be send through WAP, MMS, SMS, Bluetooth and deactivate any type of computer within a 100 meters of range.

The mobile phone has three cameras, two on its side and one to its back as usual. It has night vision and infrared binoculars and can take snap shots even in pitch dark, using night vision sensors. Moreover, the mobile phone when plugged to hear-jack can transmit ultrasound and sonar sounds which means not only the pachyderms and dogs can hear it, but also makes audible to the human ears.

The “Black Dracula as another beneficial factor, it can be activated and deactivated by hearing the sound of its owner. The owner needs to dial his selected number from any other phone, once the “Black Dracula” identifies its owner’s voice it immediately gets into position.

One of the greatest features of the “Satellite Guided Mobile Phone” is that it can act as an explosive device. On hearing its master’s voice, the chlorine and tetra hydrochloride stars to melt when the brass sheet receives a code from the user and explodes in no second.

Man vs. Animal

Man evolved from apes and apes were animals, struggling to fit according to their surroundings. This is why we share a similarity with the beast, these similarities can be seen during a territorial fight, during a fight to unite with the opposite sex, protecting ones family and surviving to tell the tale. We have been noticed and have been associated with animals, just because there are certain genes which we carry from them. It is because of this we can see the above mentioned characteristics within us. Though we have evolved and matured ourselves better than the animals, but still some of the habits and characteristics can be seen within us. The only difference is that we can understand the situation and prepare our self to take it down any time. So, whether we ignore the fact, but it is true that we are built by those genes that inherit the beast of the wild.

Extravaganza Sporting Action

Extravaganza Sporting Action

Summary: Sports have thrilled human-race by giving the best sportsman to them. They turned out to become the next iconic legend in the field of different sports.

Sports have thrilled and excited many for centuries and different sports have seen the birth of a new legend. These people become crazy on a particular sport and make it to be their bread and butter. Many professional sportsmen are paid heavily to perform a live action on the stage or are given huge chunks for single endorsements.

The adventure and excitement for sports started back to thousands of years which were produced by the Romans. These sports were brutal which involved Gladiators to fight till death. The crowd loved this brutal sport and applause to the winning person, but this was not as easy as it sounds. This was taken much beyond the limits when man was forced to fight the beast, gladiators usually had a small dagger and was thrown to fight in the amphitheater which led to the death of either the two.

But this was just the geneses; Ancient Olympic Games began around 776 BC which could be seen in this modern world. This game was invented to honor Zeus an ancient mythological God who ruled Mount Olympus. They were many sports that were introduced in this Ancient Olympic Games.

The sport proved to become an honorable task and the winner was highly appreciated for his win and bravery. It was highly renowned among the Greeks and they worshipped it has an offerings for their God. If an athlete lost the sport, due the pity he used to commit suicide.

But sports of the modern world have scaled to higher limits, where the sportsman not only gets a sporting stardom but also is awarded with millions of dollars. International football pays its player with a morphing income which could be read as millions of pounds. A top class footballer earns no less than 100 million pounds annually, but if they are tied in contracts then this could scale up to much higher estimate.

Clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Arsenals and many such giants clubs organize football throughout the year and by the end of the play they take back huge profits. But it the sports lovers that make it possible for a particular sport to raise from phoenix.

There are other sports that take a person’s life such sports are aggressive one and a pinch of those ancient gladiatorial sports could be seen in them. Such sports are boxing, martial arts, bull-fighting or may be a horse race, they tend to take the sportsman’s life but at the end it becomes an enjoyable sport.

People are injured they die or are paralyzed but still the sport is replaced by new sportsmen who are determine to carry on the task and make the crowd happy. Some athletes do resign or quit the sport due to their fall from their stardom or due to the injuries or because of the aging factor. Such sportspersons tend to take up part time jobs and coach the new generation of sporting people. They work in sport clubs or some gymnasium to carry on with their lives.

There are other sports that are trying to make their place at the international level but still they are lacking behind. This might be due financial structure or may be the crowd does not like to see them or may be the sports are not so interesting to pull the crowd.

Indoor Games Good Bad and Ugly

Indoor Games Good Bad and Ugly

Summary: Indoor games have not only helped people to overcome their boredom but also made their mind sharp and alert to perform their daily activities.

But how far can we take these indoor games? Are they really useful for people or they bore them? Though indoor games are played for recreation during the leisure time but still they are unable to make a platform or recognition in the field of international sports.

There are many indoor games that are played and are loved by hundreds but still they need to get a renowned glory world wide. These games can be categorized has chess, poker, billiards, carom and many more which can be played during fun time but they do not hold a place in the sporting list.

These games are played between two to three players which may include kids and adults. Chess is one of the most popular indoor games which can be played on the computer, it is an interesting game that kills time but people do get addicted to play with it. Although chess sharpens a person’s mind but people sometimes tend to sacrifice their daily routines.

There are other indoor games such as basketball which is played inside a sealed auditorium and is highly acclaimed in different nations. Americans love this sporting action and numbers of students after schooling themselves get involved in such a feat. Women are also equally involved in this sport and like men they too receive applause and praises from the crowd.

There are other sports that are also recognized as indoor games which can be named as badminton, billiards, and many more which are played world wide. They fail to pull the crowd towards the auditorium whereas few like to cherish them.

These indoor games turn uglier when people are addicted while playing with them. The much awaited videogames are driving people to nearby cyber-café where they are ready to spend hundreds of bucks on a single game. People of various ages like to get a hold with the videogames and tend to forget their everyday work.

Games like poker encourage people to spend thousands of dollars to win a jackpot. Poker is highly played in casinos where people loose miserably if not they take a large winning by luck. People are ready to bet any amount to win their money back this gets much nastier when people play them till the end of losing a penny.

Videogames, chess, poker make people clumsier to interact with the outside world. People tend to forget their daily works kids like to stay back from the school and adults ignore their work. They get involved in these games and ultimately loose interest in the happenings of the world.

Olympics and other international sports organizations involved indoor games such as badminton and basketball which has some how managed to make their place internationally. Though these sports are paid high but it’s up to the crowd to get tempted and attracted towards such sports.

This becomes a great concern for the organizers to promote such sports or the marketing of such sports should be done with a greater pace. Compared to big sporting events such as the Soccer football, tracks and fields, cricket these indoor sports are squeezed and are limited. This is why they are restricted from getting into the limelight.
