The elite special operations force of the US Navy, known for there highly camouflage style and ability to operate at all levels Sea, Air and Land. These Naval Amphibious units are able to work in ocean and fresh water battlefields. This ability of Naval SEALs separates them from most military units in the world.

It’s interesting to learn the birth of these amphibious units that sprouted to an Excellency and has been the first line of defense for United States. The Navy Seals first came to existence during the World War II when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. This lead Uncle Sam to enter the war, the US troops was forced to invade Japanese territory by sea, often facing landmines and unseen enemies.

As a counter-measure, the US Navy began creating teams specially trained to go other hazards and return intelligence on enemy locations. These teams were called Naval Combat Demolition Units. During the Vietnam War in the 1960s, the US Navy created Navy SEALs based on the training of Naval Combat Demolition Units.

The headquarters of Naval Amphibious Base is in Virginia Beach, and Virginia, is the home to SEAL Teams 2, 4, 8, and 10, whereas the home for 1, 3, 5, and 7 SEAL is in Coronado, California. On the other hand the Seal Delivery Vehicle (SDV) unit is in Pearl Harbor.

The Navy Seals stay alert 365 days 24*7 and are deployed to various war zones. They are given those missions that require detailed planning and precise execution. The force is trained to perform missions in direct action, counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, hostage situation, special reconnaissance, including surveillance and gathering crucial information.

Navy seals began its career during the Vietnam War and after an unaccepted success they were deployed to Grenada and successfully overcame Operation Urgent Fury. The operations that were handled by these amphibious forces were “Operation Prime Chance” in Persia Gulf, “Operation Just Cause” in Panama, Afghanistan, Post-9/11 operations and Iraq War.

This is the same amphibious forces that were lead to trace and hunt down the most wanted fugitive of the planet, Osama Bin Laden. According to unconfirmed reports, SEAL Team SIX (ST-6) was involved in the operation that killed the Al-Qaeda chief. The team apparently carried out a number of trail runs before the raid and at last killed him in Abbottabad which was in military base of Pakistan.

Regarded as being among the most highly skilled and trained amphibious units in the world. They are the US Navy’s principal special operations force, ready to take down any mission with one strike and can operate even in deepest ocean.
