Face off of the Two Big Cats

Although, lions and tigers are the strongest, powerful and the most courageous big cats, built to take down the biggest prey with one sweep or bite force, but they are different in many ways.

Lions and tigers have the same bone and body structure and are built with muscles which allow them to hold their prey strongly without even loosing them. But this is not the reason that both the big cats differ from each other. It’s rarest of rear case when these cats confront each other in wild; this is because the lions rule most of the Africans jungle whereas the tigers are limited to Russia and India.

Very few dossiers show that the big cats truly fought when it came to defend their territory and their family. Scientific research show that the lions and tigers fought during the Roman era, and most of the cases the tigers won the war and lions breathe to dead.

Tigers are stronger and smarter than the lions and the reason behind this is they hunt alone which means they have to rely on their instincts. This helped them to develop their mind and allowed them to improve their smartness at peak.

Whereas the lions hunt in groups, so they are depended on each other allowing them to slow down both mentally and physically. Many time it as been seen that the tigers often leave the war zone without much to fight, that doesn’t mean that the tigers are frightened to fight but they avoid fight in fear of being injured, which will slow them down during a hunt.

Tigers are often weighed around 500lbs whereas lions are weigh not more than 150 kg. It as been said that a tiger that was found in the wild weighed nearly 300kg, but in a fight weight is not only the factor for a tiger’s win, but there are other reasons which helps the tigers to win against the lions.

The tigers fight on their forequarters using their two legs as a tool, they fight like a western boxer with great moves and tactics using better of their foot moves. The lions fight using one of their legs giving them greater disadvantage in a battle. This is where the lions loose to death when a fight is played against their opponent.

Moreover an episode known as the “Animal Face Off” featured in the Discovery Channel showed that the lion survived and won the fight against the tiger due to its mane. But in wild this is not the case, when there is a fight between the big cats, they would rather go for the head or back and not for the throat.

And this is where the weight plays an important role; the tigers are much heavier than the lions which allow them to climb on their opponent easily sending a tremendous bite force to their assailant. Tigers normally are calm creatures and would avoid a scuffle but on the other hand lions are aggressive in nature and will never back down without a fight.

This is why people opt for a lion rather than a tiger, because they have an instinct to fight till death. The Romans loved the mane owner because they were aggressive and never showed signs of timid ness.

But at the end of day the true warrior with great tactics wins the fight and the tiger owns the war zone with supremacy and the knack to fight, when it comes to challenging its antagonist.
